Middletown NY – Emporium Square Artisan Market is 1 Years Old! August 1, 2021 marks one year since the owners of Emporium Square Orlando Lallave and Barbara Martinez opened their doors and invited the community to discover local talent right in their backyard.
“We only dreamed about this day, one year came upon us so fast,” said Orlando Lallave. “We were going to plan a big celebration but we decided that having each of our merchants host their own ribbon cutting throughout the month of August, would be a better way to celebrate surviving this tough year,” he continued “The merchants that have been with us since we opened our doors didn’t get a chance to cut their ceremonial ribbon because of all the covid restrictions, fast forward a year later, they are due a ribbon cutting and it’s their time now.”
It was a tough year for local small businesses, with many shutting their doors but Emporium Square stayed strong and kept pushing forward to keep their doors open and pulling out of the pandemic with over 40 small businesses under their umbrella. “We have had many ups and downs, but we survived the first year and we look forward to another year” said Barbara Martinez. “The best part is that we are still growing, still evolving and we are stronger every single day” said Martinez. “We are so blessed to have an amazing group of merchants and one year later the vibe is completely different, it’s exactly what we have been working towards all year” added Lallave.
Currently Emporium Square is home to over 50 local merchants. They have since added their very popular coffee shop, La Taza Cafe, owned and operated by Barbara. They have an anchor nostalgic candy shop, Sweets & Treat Candy Shoppe, owned and operated by Lisa Clancy and the strength of their main anchor shop, Fusion Eyewear, owned and operated by Orlando.
They want to shine a light on the merchants that have been steadfast since the very beginning and ask shoppers to help congratulate them on their one year anniversary.
